The world of live-action roleplay and cosplay is full of creative individuals. They make armor, costumes, accessories, and figurines by hand, and you can’t help but stare at their creations during different events. But not everyone has the skills or time to do it by hand. That is where artisan collectives like LARPSHOPKEEPER come in, granting you any accessories you could dream of, including padding, rondels, and figurines.
LARP accessories can strengthen your role in the community — you instantly feel more comfortable, reinforce any armor sets you’ve got, and make yourself happier with a custom figurine of your favorite character. Learn what kind of add-ons our creators make for players around the world.
Rondel Plate: Small Add-ons That Make a Big Difference
Most players and reenactors disregard rondel plates. Yet, they have provided great shoulder protection to knights throughout the years. This circular plate of metal was often added to other pieces of armor to close the gaps. In roleplay, for example, LARP breastplates can be accessorized with rondels to cover straps and hinges. Additionally, these LARP Accessories were used in weapons as a handguard. That’s how a rondel dagger emerged.
First rondel plates appeared in the late 14th century. They were in constant use until the mid-16th century, during the time when rigid breastplates took over. During the medieval times, rondels were essential for armpit protection. These pieces were called "besagews" and had a slightly conical form. LARP accessories made by modern artisans mimic the old designs, so you might find them secured to other armor with leather straps, laces, or turning pins.
Your rondel plate can make a huge difference during a fight or a medieval event. It protects your vulnerable points, as well as shows others how well-versed and stylish you are, regardless of the time period or setting. At LARPSHOPKEEPER, these LARP accessories are made out of polyurethane — a durable but lightweight material that’s easy to maintain even in the harshest battles.
Padding and Underlayers: Comfort for Long Wear
Wearing armor for a long time can be truly uncomfortable, and some reenactment scenes last more than a day. That is why LARP accessories also include padding and other underlayers. Whether you are wearing polyurethane LARP pauldrons or steel bracers, soft padding is a plus. In addition to comfort, it provides more coverage and damage protection, as any high-quality underlayer will absorb the enemy’s strike.
If you are a fan of more rigid than flexible armor, it might cut circulation or chafe in warm weather. Padding eliminates the points of contact with the skin, allowing you to move freely without pain. And in colder weather, underlayers add warmth, even if you’re covered in steel head-to-toe.
LARPSHOPKEEPER offers adjustable padding for all players. Our team of artisans is always available for custom orders, too. If you need your underlayers to fit like a glove or have special features you can’t find anywhere online.
Figurines
Live-action roleplay and cosplay fans are not always looking for LARP accessories, though. Some want to get a custom figurine of their favorite character and put it on a shelf to admire every day. Unfortunately, not all merchandise is globally available, and some characters are too niche to have exclusive figurines. LARPSHOPKEEPER won’t leave you empty-handed — our collectibles are completely custom, too.
Made from high-quality plastic by our skilled creators, your model will last you years and keep you happy. Any type of paint, colors, and shading is available, so you can pick the design you like. Now, there is no need to order from China or Japan to complete your collection.
Care and Storage
Maintaining your LARP accessories is easy. When you get a polyurethane rondel plate, you don’t need to constantly clean and prep it, as you would do with steel or leather. Instead, just take it out once a week or more often and wipe it with a soft cloth to keep the dust off. When not in action, put the plate somewhere dry and shaded at home.
After the battles and events, inspect the armor piece and clean off any spots gently. Then, make a mild solution out of soap and water, wet the cloth, and wipe down the whole surface. Afterward, pat any of the water off and let it dry. Avoid drying in the sun, as the UV rays are too aggressive when exposed for prolonged periods. Do not dry clean.
As a part of LARP accessories, padding can get dirtier after showcases and fights. It can absorb sweat, especially in warm weather. We recommend washing it by hand in lukewarm water without using any aggressive cleaners. Avoid things like:
-
bleach;
-
vinegar;
-
alcohol;
-
harsh chemicals;
-
degreasers.
These cleaning agents will thin out the material, making it prone to ripping. They can also discolor the piece or stain it, depending on the chemicals used. Gentle handwashing with laundry detergent will do the trick.
Outside of classic LARP armor sets and accessories, you will find figurines. Since the LARPSHOPKEEPER team makes them out of plastic, they are even easier to care for than armor, padding, and other LARP accessories. The best way to store them is in a plastic casing to prevent grime and dust buildup. If the collectibles stay on the shelf without the case, dust them off with a soft brush every once in a while, and they will stay clean, vibrant, and ready to show off.
Complete Your Setup
Knights, elves, and goblins need to be armored and protected, no matter what. But wearing plain armor can be uncomfortable and, sometimes, leave some spots vulnerable. LARP accessories like padding, underlayers, and rondel plates can make your battle or event comfortable and reinforce your safety.
When you are back home, however, you might want to indulge in different hobbies outside of roleplaying. Then, you can complete your setup by ordering custom plastic figurines from our artisan collective. All LARP accessories and non-thematic models are made out of high-quality materials, so you’re fully happy with your collection.
