Care and Maintenance of Polyurethane Armor Pieces

LARP shoulder armor does not require a lot of maintenance. In contrast to steel pieces that could rust, PU material is more resistant to moisture. Yet, you should still store your LARP pauldrons in a cool, dry place to avoid unnecessary dampness. In case you are using them, take them out once a week to wipe the dust off with a soft cloth or duster. Avoid using rough sponges or stiff brushes.

Battles can be long and leave you dirty, regardless of whether you win or lose. Still, cleaning LARP pauldrons is pretty easy, as long as you don’t let the grime sit on top of the surface for too long. To avoid build-up, make a mild mix of soap and water and saturate a cloth in it. Then, gently clean the polyurethane and leather straps. Absolutely do not use the following:

• bleach;

• vinegar;

• dish soap;

• degreasers, and similar.

Your LARP pauldrons will not be able to handle harsh chemicals and can fade or get damaged. Once the surface is clean, pat it dry. Do not place it in the sun — long exposure to UV rays is harmful for your armor.
